Throughout the month of October I will be creating a 6x8 album celebrating the fall season in Affinity Publisher for iPad. The photos + stories in this "October Captured" album will follow the prompts from my Photo-A-Day Idea sheet. You can download the idea sheet in this blog post. These pages will be simple, using the October Captured book template and October Captured Digital Kit I created for students enrolled in the S.L.A.P. Masterclass.
We’re moving right along in October Captured! Even though fall looks a little different here in Florida, I still love finding ways to bring those cozy seasonal vibes into my days. From colorful, fall puzzles to peaceful walks along our neighborhood sidewalks, there’s always a little touch of fall to be found—no matter where you live.
October 15 | Photo Prompt: Seasonal Pastime

Today's photo prompt from my Photo-A-Day Idea List was originally "sweater weather." But when you live in Florida, “sweater weather” is more of a concept than a reality—so instead, I decided to cozy up with a favorite seasonal pastime: a Michael Storrings puzzle (from Galison)! His illustrations are so full of charm and the colors are so vibrant. Chris wasn’t quite in a puzzle mood this time, so I tackled this 1000-piece fall market scene solo—and honestly, I didn’t mind one bit! It’s like stepping right into a story full of chilly fall breezes, pumpkins + cider!
The pocket-style page layout is master page from my October Captured Affinity Publisher template and the cards/number sticker are from the October Captured Main Kit.
This page is to the right of Day 14 in my album. Below shows them side-by-side:

October 16 | Photo Prompt: Sidewalk

I really like the way I tackled the journal box for this story. I drew a shape with the pen tool in Affinity Publisher and then converted the shape to a text box. As I typed, the text wrapped itself within the space. I also left-justified the text and fiddled around with the word spacing a bit to even out the spacing so there weren't many "rivers" (gaps) in the paragraph.
Whether I’m piecing together a scene that celebrates the spirit of fall or on a morning walk through my Florida neighborhood, these days remind me how many different shapes “autumn” can take. Cozy doesn’t always mean chilly—it’s about finding warmth in small, familiar rituals, am I right?
