October Captured: Days 17 + 18 + 19

Orange circle with "October Captured: Days 17-18-19" text. Background shows a fire, text, and owl image, creating a cozy, autumnal vibe.

Throughout the month of October I will be creating a 6x8 album celebrating the fall season in Affinity Publisher for iPad. The photos + stories in this "October Captured" album will follow the prompts from my Photo-A-Day Idea sheet. You can download the idea sheet in this blog post. These pages will be simple, using the October Captured book template and October Captured Digital Kit I created for students enrolled in the S.L.A.P. Masterclass.

It’s been a little over a week since I last shared pages from my October Captured album! We spent the 17th–20th camping with friends, and when we got home, I dove straight into creating content for the December Daily® Side by Side Product Play class. But now I’m back and ready to post again!

Just a little reminder—if you’re following along with a Photo A Day list, don’t feel tied to it. Use it as a guide for inspiration! I love letting my photos and stories lead the way, and sometimes that means swapping prompts for moments that feel more meaningful in the moment.

October 17 | Photo Prompt: Signs of the Season

A fire pit glows with flames at night. "Signs of the Season" text alongside gold stars. A warm, cozy ambiance; number 17 shown.

One of my favorite signs that fall has finally arrived is being able to enjoy an evening around a fire pit. We spent this particular night camping with friends, chatting and laughing under the stars. Even though the daytime temperatures were still in the 80s, once the sun went down, it was cool enough to light a fire—Florida-style autumn perfection! I'm not confident the cool evening temperatures are going to last, but I will enjoy them whenever I can!

The page layout is a master page from my October Captured Affinity Publisher template and the number sticker are from the October Captured Main Kit. The scattered stars are part of the master page! Using the Pen Tool I drew a shape for the text box and right-aligned the text so it would follow the angle of the box. I added an extra text box and used it as a title for the photo prompt.

This page is to the right of Day 6 in my album. Below shows them side-by-side:

Path by a canal with palm trees and text about a walk. Fire pit with flames at night, stars on the right, and text about enjoying fall evenings.

October 18 | Photo Prompt: Comfort Food

Journal entry dated October 18 discusses comfort food, camping, and fall temperatures. Image shows coffee in a Yeti mug and pumpkin bread.

We woke up to a crisp 56° morning, and it couldn’t have been more perfect! Before we left for our camping trip, I baked a loaf of pumpkin bread to enjoy with our morning coffee. Breads, cookies, soups, stews—they’re all calling my name. Now if only Florida’s weather would stay cool long enough to enjoy them all! But I don't see that happening for a while.

While the page on the left is a master page, the page on the right is just a simple 4x6 rectangle with a piece of digital scrapbook paper clipped to it. I took the phrase from one of the 6x4 filler cards that is in the October Captured kit, and recreated it on top of the paper.

October 19 | Photo Prompt: Feathers + Fur

Great Horned Owl in foliage; side images: Wood Stork, Florida Panther, Black Bear, White Pelican, Flamingo; text about a wildlife sanctuary.

Our campground was near a Florida State Park that had a wonderful wildlife sanctuary. We took a walk around the loop and saw a variety of animals—owls, pelicans, a black bear, and even a Florida panther named Yuma! Definitely one of the highlights of our weekend!

Both sides of the spread are master page layouts. The labels are from the October Captured digital kit. Photos were taken on my iPhone 16 Pro Max a 2x zoom. I love the details the camera captures!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I'll be back tomorrow with more pages!
