October Captured: Days 6 + 7

Brown circle with text "October Captured Days 6-7" overlaps a collage with pumpkins and a clock. Background text says "hello fall."

Throughout the month of October I will be creating a 6x8 album celebrating the fall season in Affinity Publisher for iPad. The photos + stories in this "October Captured" album will follow the prompts from my Photo-A-Day Idea sheet. You can download the idea sheet in this blog post. These pages will be simple, using the October Captured book template and October Captured Digital Kit I created for students enrolled in the S.L.A.P. Masterclass.

These next two photo prompts felt like the perfect mix of fall and family. Day 6 was all about pumpkins — a true symbol of the season — while Day 7 invited a little nostalgia with something old. I love how these two themes balanced each other: one celebrating simple seasonal joy, the other honoring the stories carried through generations.

October 6 | Photo Prompt: Pumpkins

"Hello fall" text with a description of visiting a farm for pumpkins. Images show various colorful pumpkins and a price sign at 79¢/lb.

Some of the master pages I created in the October Captured Affinity Publisher file have titles already on them, like the "hello fall" seen above. I did have to make it a little smaller once I added my journaling, but that is the beauty of working with digital products and templates–you can adjust the elements on your page to your needs! I added a 35pt white outline around the number sticker. That outline mimics the spacing between the photos, giving the impression the sticker was placed in a Photo Frame, when it's actually an added element and not part of the master page.

October 7 | Photo Prompt: Something Old

Antique wooden grandfather clock on white wall, close-up of clock face. Number 7 in circle. Text below shares family history of the clock.

I used the same technique with the number sticker for this page as I did for the previous day!

Below are the pages side-by-side:

Person relaxing on a LoveSac with a book; Ugg slippers in front of a TV showing football. Cozy vibe, text about comfort and October.

These two photo prompts reminded me why I love projects like October Captured. They help us slow down, notice the details, and weave together bits of everyday life — whether it’s a quick stop for pumpkins or a cherished heirloom that’s stood the test of time. Both tell stories worth remembering.

Meet me back here on Friday for Days 8 + 9!
