Documenting December: Story 10 of my 2024 December Daily Album

Stylized Christmas tree with star on beige background. Text: "Documenting December twenty four. Story 10: Too Much Fun" in red and brown.

Welcome back to Documenting December—my Christmas in July blog series where I’m sharing one story a day from my completed 2024 December Daily album. Each post offers a peek at my digital pages created in Affinity Publisher for iPad, along with tips, techniques, and creative encouragement for finishing your own album.

I’ve also included a link to the corresponding post(s) on Ali Edwards’ blog. I encourage you to open it in a separate window so you can see how my digital pages were inspired by the physical versions she shared.

December Daily Story Ten: Too Much Fun

Here is the link to the post on Ali's Blog that was the inspiration for this spread:

Today’s story is a simple one–shopping with friends!

Three women smile in a mall. Text reads "10 Too Much Fun." A story mentions shopping and friendship in Tampa, with gold stars and "merry."

Ali embossed her numbers and letters on vellum. For my version, I placed mine on the “Tis The Season” 10x8 transparency and lowered the opacity to 25%. It creates a soft, layered look I’m really happy with!

Gold text says "10 too much fun" with stars; smiling woman's face partially visible. "Tis the Season" repeats in the background.

I took inspiration from Ali’s page and decided to play around with a digital version of embossed lettering. The numbers and letters on my page are from the 6x8 Numbers Are Awesome 7 Stamp Set and the 4x6 Alpha and Numbers Stamp Set, while the star comes from the 6x8 Holiday Icons Stamp Set.

To create the look, I applied a deep yellow color overlay to each stamp and added a 3D Effect for extra dimension. I especially love how the numbers turned out—the stamps already have a distressed texture, so the added effect makes them look almost like real embossed designs!

Three women smiling, one in a red "merry" sweater. A decorative background with stars and a typed story about meeting in Tampa.

The page on the right came together quickly. I used a journal card from the Main Kit and the star pattern paper from the 10x8 Digital Paper Pack. To bring both pages together, I copied and pasted one of the embossed stars from the left onto the right. Done and done!
