Welcome back to Documenting December—my Christmas in July blog series where I’m sharing one story a day from my completed 2024 December Daily album. Each post offers a peek at my digital pages created in Affinity Publisher for iPad, along with tips, techniques, and creative encouragement for finishing your own album.
I’ve also included a link to the corresponding post(s) on Ali Edwards’ blog. I encourage you to open it in a separate window so you can see how my digital pages were inspired by the physical versions she shared.
December Daily Story 14: Christmas Camping
Here is a link to the post on Ali's blog that inspired this spread: Ali's Story 14
The next few stories in my album are all about a little RV camping trip we took to St. Augustine with friends. We've lived in Florida since 2013 and had never visited America’s oldest city during the Christmas season. This year, we finally made it happen—and wow, what a sight! Over 3 million white lights lit up the historic town, and it was truly magical.
Story 14 focuses on our campground stay, and Stories 15 and 16 will cover more about our adventures in town.

Ali used trees and ornaments as her decorative icons for Story 14, and I followed suit. On the left side of my spread, I used a full-page photo and added the Multi-colored Tree Die Cut along the bottom edge as a border. I layered a large white rectangle over the photo, lowered the opacity to 60%, and used that space for my journaling.

The “Christmas” title was created using the Alpha + Numbers Stamp Set, and the word “camping” was typed using CK Ali’s Hand Official font. I've had this font for years! I don’t use it often, but I thought it worked perfectly here. Don’t get me wrong—I love Ali’s handwriting—but the font version doesn’t connect the letters like some other script fonts do, and that drives me a little nuts. 😂

While I couldn’t recreate the physical “moments + memories” paper insert that Ali used in her album, I still used the digital version. I layered it over the ‘Tis the Season 10x8 transparency and placed the number 14 in the same spot Ali did. I also added several die-cut ornaments around the edges and clipped photos to two of them.

This layout style on the right side of the layout is a bit of a departure for me—I typically prefer fewer embellishments so the photos can shine. But this page just felt fun and festive, so I’m rolling with it!
Thank you so much for reading! I’ll be back tomorrow with Story 15, featuring more holiday cheer from our St. Augustine trip!
