Welcome back to Documenting December—my Christmas in July blog series where I’m sharing one story a day from my completed 2024 December Daily album. Each post offers a peek at my digital pages created in Affinity Publisher for iPad, along with tips, techniques, and creative encouragement for finishing your own album.
I’ve also included a link to the corresponding post(s) on Ali Edwards’ blog. I encourage you to open it in a separate window so you can see how my digital pages were inspired by the physical versions she shared.
December Daily Story Eight: Oh What Fun!
Page inspiration was from Ali's Story Eight. You can view Ali’s original post here:

The phrase on the 6x4 filler card, Oh What Fun, was the perfect title for today’s story—my husband and I went shopping for E-bikes as our Christmas gifts to each other!

I used several of the digital counterparts of the same embellishments Ali used in her layout, including the green felt number eight tucked behind the filler card and a strip of red scalloped ribbon. A few days ago, I shared a tutorial demonstrating how I add texture to digital scrapbook elements from the December Daily collection. If you haven’t watched it yet, head over to Story 4—you’ll find the video at the end of that post.

The original Oh What Fun card is made from a dark vellum. To echo that effect digitally, I lowered the opacity of the card slightly to 95%, allowing the bottom of the number eight to peek through. She also added red stitching to her card, which I recreated digitally by switching to the Photo Persona in Publisher and using a stitched brush by Katie Pertiet.
The asterisk transparencies on either side of my spread are from the December Daily 2024 Digital 10x8 Transparency Pack. I lowered the opacity on those to 25% for a subtle layered look.

On the photo, I added a heart from the December Daily 2024 Digital Variety Die Cut Bundle. The letters inside the heart are a mix from the 4x6 Alpha and Numbers Stamp Set and the 6x8 Uppercase Alphas Are Awesome 1 Stamp Set.
For the journaling card, I created a simple white rectangle using the Shape Tool in Publisher, added a drop shadow, and switched to the Photo Persona once again to add stitches along the top and bottom of the card using the same Katie Pertiet brushes.
Now… back to those E-bikes—do any of you own one?
