2025 Week In The Life–Day One

Updated: Aug 10

It's been a while, but I'm back.

Creating classes for Pixels to Pages has been my main focus this year. I really haven't done much documenting. Not complaining. I love creating creating classes, but I am missing the creative process of making pages and adding words to my photos. I thought participating in Ali Edwards' Week In The Life documenting project was the perfect opportunity to dive back in. It's not overwhelming. There's a begin date and end date, it forced me to take photos, and pay attention to all the little details of everyday life.

If you have been following me for any amount of time, you know I am a pocket-style scrapper and create my pages in either the Project Life App or the Affinity Photo App. But for this project, I decided to take a different approach. I wanted to experiment a little bit more with Ali's digital products and not be so locked into pocket-style pages.

I set up my album by following Ali's WITL Design Formula she shared in a blog post a few months prior to the start date of the project. You can read her post here. I looked at the set up of her physical album pages and created a digital version for my album in Affinity Publisher for iPad. Creating my album in this software allows me to view my pages side-by-side so I know exactly what it will look like when I have it printed through ZNO.

In Publisher, I can create what are called Masterpages like this:

And then these Masterpages can be applied to all of the pages in my album, allowing me to place images, papers, journal cards, etc., inside the frames.

Below is a short video of what the pages look like after adding the digital products from Ali's WITL Collection, but prior to putting in the photos and journaling. These pages mimic those physical pages she had set up in her album (there is no sound in the video):

It has been so much fun to create my album in Publisher! Today I am sharing Day One, Monday, June 2, 2025. It was a week was full of ups and downs, but I'm grateful to have it all recorded.

The page on the left is not one that I initially set up as a Masterpage. It was something I added when I started to add my photos. I love it. It is similar to one that Ali has in her 6x8 WITL Templates, but I made my own.

Spread Three

The quote in the journal card on the bottom left is actually a 3x4 filler card from Ali's Dogs + Cats Story Play Kit. I placed the 3x4 journal card on top of the 4x6 peach journal card and played around with blending modes to make the background of the 3x4 journal card disappear into the 4x6 card (I hope that made sense!).

The stitches you see an the right is a brush from Katie Pertiet. What is AMAZING about the Affinity suite of products is that you can easily open one Affinity App while in another Affinity App. So even though I am creating these pages in Publisher, I am able to open Affinity Photo from Publisher to use the Brush Tool! SO COOL!!!

Spread Four

I did purchase both the physical and digital versions of the 2025 WITL Stitched Notebook. I was able to open the PDF in Affinity Publisher and save out the pages as JPEGs. Then I placed the page above on the left and then another one you'll see in a moment into the album and added my journaling.

Spread Five

I'm sure Ali has one of those half-circles with the word "details" in it, but I was too lazy to find it. So from within Publisher, I opened Affinity Designer and used the Pencil Tool to write my own letters. I may go back and fix the letter "s." Or I may just leave it.

The page on the left is the other page I saved out as a JPEG from the PDF of the Stitched Notebook.

The short video below shows what the Publisher file looks like with the photos and words placed on the pages:
